Covid testing experiment Montreal North
Not waiting for government approval, a pilot program has set up in Montreal North businesses to test everyone for Covid, with the intention to catch asymptomatic carriers before they pass the virus along.

Good to see! This is a great initiative and I think it will bear fruit.
I’m very puzzled why QC has been so slow on rapid testing as well as with this day-long PCR type test. Japan has been doing rapid testing since Sept 2020: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/coronavirus-pcr-testing-no-reason-japan-reasearch-says-covid-saliva-tests-as-reliable/. Likewise, University of Illinois developed their own saliva test in Aug 2020 and published the details as a preprint: https://news.illinois.edu/view/6367/1795135071
Meanwhile, we only test the symptomatic for an ailment that is mostly spread asymptomatically and just hope numbers will go down. When they don’t, we make a curfew. Other provinces are basically no better, fwiw.
