Transit merger is on the table
A merger of the transit commissions of Montreal, Laval and Longueuil is under discussion. A recent report says a merger could streamline operations and save money, but do things like this always work out that way?

If they were already together I probably wouldn’t advocate splitting them (maybe I would?), but I also don’t think I’d advocate merging them now. If there’s any staff that should be regional, move them to the ARTM. My guess is a merger would result in keeping the existing staff and adding a layer of coordinating management at the top.

I know. The tendency in Quebec right now is to try to fix things by applying an additional layer of management. I suppose you have to do something with all those management graduates…
