Covid shot recommendations of the moment
If you’re on the blog site, you can see in the sidebar that we’re teetering on the brink of 20,000 Covid deaths in Quebec. The fact isn’t mentioned in this piece on current recommendations for Covid vaccination. Short version: unless you’re very old or immunocompromised, you’re not mentioned.

Is anyone else eligible? I don’t even know what the rules are now.

This page lists the eligibilities. I don’t know how we find out whether we’ve had a vaccination for the the XBB.1.5 variant.

You open the VaxiCode app (it still works!) and If you were vaccinated after August 2023 it should say
Moderna SpikeVax XBB.1.5 COVID-19

“Bien que les avantages soient moins importants pour elles, les personnes non ciblées âgées de 6 mois et plus pourraient aussi recevoir la dose du printemps 2024 si elles le demandent.”
Ah ok good to know.

When I got my polio re-up after moving to Québec, they gave me a blue carnet de vaccination like the old bank transaction books. When, where and which vaccation is recorded in the book. (My most recent entry is “Moderna-Spikevax XBB.1.5 0,5mL IM 15 décembre 2023”) I bring it with me every time I get a shot (annual grippe or COVID). The book looks official, but repeatedly I’m told by the medtech serving me I’m the only person who’s brought their book in for recording the procedure.

For children, you use them every time for all their scheduled vaccinations. Covid vaccinations and flu shots are not part of that regular schedule, so I guess that’s why they don’t ask for them for adults for those.

mare, thanks for reminding me of the app. I still have it, and it’s up to date.
