Although the city’s policy is, realistically, that we’ll have to accustom ourselves to coexisting with coyotes, authorities have captured 17 of the creatures over the last year, of which they’ve euthanized five which were either sick or had behaved aggressively. The rest have been taken off the island to somewhere suitably bosky.

It’s being widely reported that the parents of the still missing Ariel Kouakou have published an open letter to a presumed kidnapper of their son, who hasn’t been seen since March 12. In it, they express forgiveness to the putative kidnapper. Police still think the boy had a mishap by the back river and drowned.

On New Year’s Eve 2017 police shot at a man they believed was armed, during a bar brawl at St‑Laurent and Ste‑Catherine. It turned out he was indeed packing, but he also got shot four times. The cops have now been cleared of any wrongdoing. Not seeing any data on the current condition of the man who got shot.
