$6.4B confirmed to complete blue line
Quebec has confirmed $6.4 billion to complete the five planned blue line stations to Anjou. The work will start next year, with an opening date sometime in 2029.
Another billion is being given to the STM to keep the metro running and pursue the program of retrofitting more of the stations to make them accessible.

It should be noted that many changes have been made to the final plans of the blue line extension. This is mostly done to save on expropriation costs and includes moving the terminus to the East side of the 25 at Anjou city hall (this is in lieu of and not in addition to a stop at Galeries d’Anjou). Also, many edicules have been scrapped in order to achieve further cost savings.
I’m glad it’s being done, but I think the elimination of the Galeries d’Anjou stop is a mistake. Buses could have terminated there or added to the transit options. The 460, for example could have had a terminus at a metro station. The 141 could have passed by the Galeries d’Anjou metro on its way to Honoré-Beaugrand. The 44 could have bridge the gap from the green line at Radisson to the blue line at Galeries d’Anjou. Some Exo buses could have had a stop on the blue line on their way to the green line terminus at Radisson. It’s a compromise, I suppose.

So we’re gonna have two Pie-IX and Viau stations? J/K obviously these new ones will be renamed. Kudos to CTV News for publishing an illegible map, though.

@dhomas, it seems the station will be built directly underneath the 25, with the main entrance and bus terminus on the west side (in the mall parking lot) and a secondary entrance on the east side (next to Anjou borough hall).

Yes the Anjou station platforms will be directly under the 25. An entrance will be on either side of the 25.
In the image that DeWolf posted, those grey lines are non-revenue track (east-west line) and a storge depot for trains (north-south line). Quite a lot of infrastructure on the east side of the 25.
The PieIX station design is very advanced because the SRB Pie-IX will have tunnels under the road to directly connect to the new metro station without going outside. Pie-IX will also have two entrances (NW and SE of the intersection).

@DeWolf, @James That’s great news! I’m very happy to be wrong!

Generally it’s nice when a metro station spans a barrier and has exits on both sides. In this case they will still be right next to highways, so we’ll see how useful it’ll be.
But man, this line sure is expensive. We’re getting to NYC level costs here…

I recall an argument on this blog: the MUHC was leasing a building on Decarie, on the far side from de la Savane metro station. Some people were saying they preferred driving because it was an unpleasant walk from the station, around to a crosswalk over the autoroute, and back to the building. I think it was when I posted this story.
Not having an exit from that station on the west side was an issue – but then so was renting office space on the far side of the street. It’s a good example of how a map can be misleading. You have to go look at the actual layout.
