La Ronde changes hands
La Ronde has changed hands from Six Flags to an outfit called EPR and that’s the whole story; the rest of the CTV piece is just press release‑speak.
Later, TVA headlined their piece La Ronde vendue à des Américains as if Six Flags wasn’t American.

Another “could have been a press release” story. A little digging finds that the Canadian park will be operated separately from the other parks sold, and a question comes up based on the wording of the press release: multi-park passes. Currently you can buy a La Ronde pass that’s valid at all Six Flags parks in North America. The press release says that will continue for 2026. Presumably that will then end. I know some people who have taken advantage of that, so that’s a loss; I wonder if prices will go down a bit to compensate. Or maybe, since the new operations manager also owns Calypso and Village Vacances Valcartier, maybe you’ll be able to get a combined pass to them, which is probably more useful than Six Flags as they’re closer. Would be a good question for a journalist, if there were still any on staff.

I’m cautiously optimistic that the new owners will be able to pull La Ronde out of the death spiral it’s been in for the last decade or so. It desperately needs some investment and Six Flags clearly was not interested in doing it.
If they can spruce the place up a bit, get rid of the abandoned Expo buildings, put in some modern rides and fix the lazy SixFlags food, that will go a long way to securing the parks future.

get rid of the abandoned Expo buildings
Are there still abandoned buildings from Expo 67 on the La Ronde side?

Oh yeah, there are many. The dolphinarium, the jardin des etoiles and many small kiosks and booths; some in use, many not.

My family went to Six Flags in Lake George (another of the properties sold in this transaction) in 2024. We were able to use the same Six Flags app to manage our tickets to La Ronde last year. Since we don’t plan on visiting the US again any time soon, i don’t see it as a loss personally, but we might lose out on tourism from the US. Then again, i don’t know if La Ronde is that much of a draw for tourists.
Selfishly, i would much prefer if they created some type of network with the Canadian properties by the same owner: VVR and Calypso.
