Quebec to add to anti-gun efforts
Quebec is promising to help the city build its anti-firearm squad.
I have a feeling that in many cities worldwide, a few folks letting off a few rounds on a hot summer night (as happened on the weekend in Jean-Drapeau park, and in Montreal North) would hardly raise an eyebrow, but we have a situation. I’m not saying it should be taken lightly – all it takes is for a stray bullet to kill someone uninvolved, and there will be demands for stop and frisk again.

I don’t have a positive perception of these things, but: There does exist sound locator devices (“Shotspotter”) which are deployed in dozens of cities, and I have wondered why there has not been a debate about deploying one in Montreal.
