Number of new cops is hot potato
The Police Brotherhood says Mayor Plante has broken her promise to hire more police, while she still plans to hire 282 more officers.
There’s absolutely no guarantee they can recruit that many cops in that time or that hiring them will fix the issue of gunplay, but it’s becoming a political issue.

The brotherhood really has a chip against Plante. I have an inlaw in the SPVM and he’s convinced “Plante hates us and wants to destroy us”. He has no rebuttle to “then why has Plante increased funds to the SPVM?”. There’s a serious disconnect.

I think it’s a perception of Projet as lefty, and lefty = anti-police. This may also be why Plante is going gung‑ho for more cops, in an effort to change that perception.
