Scream 6 turns NDG to NYC
The production of the movie Scream 6 has dressed part of NDG to look like New York, but the Gazette uses this as a hook to complain about how Hollywood shoots are down and blaming it on city bureaucracy. The coda lists several other American productions coming, but it’s usually Gazette policy to kick the city when you have a chance.

Montréal a dû offrir aux producteurs de “Scream 6” un meilleur paquet de réduction des coûts, car si vous avez besoin d’un décor new-yorkais sans New York, Toronto constitue un meilleur choix. Même leur métro ressemble plus à celui de New York. L’avantage de Toronto, dans ce cas, est qu’il s’agit d’un paysage urbain plus générique que celui de Montréal. C’est comme quelqu’un a dit dans la série “30 Rock”, “Toronto’s like New York without all the stuff.”
J’espère que Montréal pourra attirer davantage de grosses productions, car elles sont bonnes pour les caisses de la ville, mais les seuls tournages de films qui m’intéressent vraiment ici sont ceux où la ville joue son propre rôle, et non un substitut d’un autre endroit. Le dernier film que je me souviens d’avoir vu qui a été tourné à Montréal et qui s’y déroulait réellement était “The Score” et c’était en 2001 ! Le plaisir de repérer les points de repère locaux dans ce film a compensé le fait qu’il n’était pas génial, juste moyen.

Je prends le métro quand je suis à New York, et bien que j’aie parcouru toute la ville, je connais surtout Manhattan et Brooklyn. Je ne me souvenais pas d’une station dans 45th Street, mais je pensais qu’il y avait peut-être une entrée dans cette rue pour la station 42nd Street. En jetant un coup d’œil à Google Maps, je trouve une station à 45th Street sur la ligne de 4th Avenue à Brooklyn, une station que je n’ai jamais vue ou traversée.
So, “kick this one for Brooklyn.”

Local shooting is great for the local economy, but I wasn’t happy about being blocked access to my own home (as they were shooting on my street). ”we left you a notice two weeks ago about the limiting access”. Get bent!
I really like seeing shots with Montreal locations, but I can also find it distracting “How did they turn right off Rene-Levesque onto Mt-Royal street????”

Every so often, I’ll check out the chase scenes from Blazing Magnum (1976) to see how Montreal has changed and the parts that are still recognizable. It’s also a pretty good chase scene.

@Steph, I feel your pain! If anything, the permits the city gives in residential areas are a bit too broad if they allow barring people from their homes. A few times, I’ve pretended not to hear through my headphones and kept walking.

They film for RC’s L’Auberge du chien noir around here. We got angry at the city for not telling us. But I got even more angry when they went on my property. The city can give them a permit for everything up to my personal property. At that point, it’s trespass. They also film Just for Laughs Gags around here… one many on our street has been caught 3 times. How do you get so gullible that you get caught three times and not notice they always have a porta-potty
