Pedestrian hit

An 89-year-old was hit by a car1 early Wednesday evening on Viger and is reported in critical condition. Radio-Canada specifies that it was a Porsche, and TVA shows it to us and reassures us that the driver is OK.

Piétons Québec says that while there have been fewer fatal traffic accidents over time affecting drivers, fatalities to pedestrians are not decreasing at the same rate, and municipalities need to do their bit to make the roads safer for people who walk.2

1. Yes, I know the formulation “hit by a car” is problematic, but we all know what it means.
2. I still think Vision Zero is a terrible name for a movement to make roads safer.
