Bain St-Michel: renovation cancelled
The city has cancelled a contract with the outfit that was supposed to work on the Bain St‑Michel in the Mile End, with the aim of transforming it into a cultural centre. Work had been going too slowly and costs had been rising. Now the city needs to find a new contractor.

I read this last night and was a little confused. Maybe there’s more going on? Shady stuff with the contractor? Because cancelling the contract will drag out the project even more and make things more expensive. It’s now slated for completion at the end of 2025 which means the building will have been closed to the public for a full decade when it finally reopens.
Love that little Aref Salem snipe at Valérie Plante at the end of the article… I see he has inherited Lionel Perez’s habit of offering absolutely useless criticism.
