Order of Montreal: nominations
This is the month to nominate recipients for the Order of Montreal. I keep getting nudged about this on various media so I’m passing it on.
Above is the official medal. I should’ve submitted my design, which I like better (but then I would):

I find the existing one kind of dated and cold. Really feels like something selected by a committee.
I guess maybe Maisonneuve wouldn’t do, though – white guy, colonizer, who knows. It’s based on the Place d’Armes statue, of course. Maybe the obverse ought to have been either Jeanne Mance, or an indigenous reference…
