I’ve seen various scare stories about a huge storm to hit here this week; CBC now has the story about a weather system coming Tuesday and it’s hardly likely to be the snowpocalypse some media were making out. But maybe it’s why somebody saw city trucks spreading salt Monday morning.

Update: Officials say the salt dump, reported with derision by QMI, was simply a technical mistake by a worker.

The decomposing body of an old woman was found by a janitor in a Côte-des-Neiges apartment Sunday, and the tenant – a man of 45 – was arrested. No indication yet whether this was homicide.

Update: The man found on the premises is the woman’s son and he’s being evaluated: this item says there’s no evidence of criminal activity.

Further update: if the man is simple-minded as described here, why would he be charged with interfering with a dead body if the truth is that his mother died and he simply had no idea what to do?

Having April Fool coincide with Easter Sunday put a damper on pranks, generally and locally, but here are two good ones: Gondola up Mount Royal and Jaggi Singh announcing he would run for the NDP against Justin Trudeau in Papineau.
