Garbage problems vs. solutions
In the Journal, Daphnée Hacker-B. describes ongoing garbage pickup problems and possible solutions, although the headline “Vidanges aussi négligées que nos rues” is neither a fair head to the story, nor true.

Ménard’s idea of just copying the dutch system is wishful thinking, many can’t even be bothered to take out the recycling/trash on the right days let alone carry it.
The current way of doing things does strike me as being terribly inefficient, drive 10-20 meters, pick up trash and drive another 10-20 meters and repeat. If we concentrated the trash bags to a handful of locations along a city block (let’s say beneath lamp posts) we really could see increased efficiency.
