It’s a sublimely slow news weekend when the Journal’s biggest story is that the boutique hotel inside Birks is threatening to close because of the road dig on Ste-Catherine.

The hotel is asking for an injunction preventing the city from doing work after 7pm, reversing a somewhat recent decision to allow more work hours with an eye to a quicker finish. The hotel warns that they’re suffering from this with comps, discounts and cancellations, and that if these losses continue, it’ll sink the hotel.

The website detailing the work said there were to be two shifts, so presumably 14-16 hours of work per day. I work in the area and they are working by 7am.
The hotel was just recently finished and they put an extra floor on top of the Birks building. How could they not have known about the planned work is beyond me.

We’re to expect a fair bit of snow on Sunday.
Update: Snow removal is to start on Monday evening – the sixth campaign this winter.
Also: autoroute 15 was full of water Sunday afternoon.

While technically correct, the best kind of correct, who calls this section of the 15 anything other than The Décarie?
