The city’s upping the number of crossing guards in 2019. I can see the benefit, but the need for crossing guards implies a lack of overall control on traffic that’s not ideal.

Montreal is going to work out the details of becoming a sanctuary city next year. Legally it could be complicated for city-level services to be offered to non-status residents, but I’ve seen indications we already offer school spaces to all children. If we agree that you can’t have a population of kids growing up with no formal education, other services should follow via the same philosophy.
