A man died in a fire in Côte-des-Neiges early Sunday and a firefighter was injured on the scene.
Other than that it’s been a pretty quiet weekend, police-blotter wise.

Montreal City Weblog’s 2019 calendar is in production, and I have a few questions:
I’ve found various sources of historical timeline material, “on this day” and “c’est arrivé la semaine…” content and so forth, but there very well may be ones I’ve missed, in French or English. If you know of any, please post about them below. I’d ike to add a few more interesting dates especially for March, April and May.
I’m also excerpting blog comments made over the last year and a half. If you think I’ve missed something particularly good – contributed by yourself or someone else – you can tell me below or, if you’d prefer, by email.
The city says it saved $7 million this year by having police cadets direct traffic instead of full‑time police.
The history piece this weekend looks back at women telegram messengers in 1943, looking almost military in their uniforms.
