“Serious matter” led to SQ suspension
The BEI – the independent police investigation bureau – says it’s a serious matter that led to the suspension of SQ head Martin Prud’homme this week. I should hope they wouldn’t suspend him for eating crackers in bed.
Two other police honchos were suspended following Prud’homme’s suspension – this relatively brief Journal piece gives a sense of the as yet incomprehensible tar pit behind the headlines. I’m following it now from curiosity to see how much of Prud’homme’s alleged actions involved the Montreal force. He might be on the line for something unrelated, but if the province’s top cop is shown to be corrupt, how could he have run the SPVM for a year without bringing his problems to Montreal? Stay tuned.
