A man with an “ethnic” name has had a human rights tribunal judgement in his favour after a job interviewer asked him where he was from, a question disallowed by law. The employer countered that the postulant seemed to think it was OK to call the interviewer “tu” and was curious to know whether this was lack of respect or whether he was actually more comfortable in English where there’s no such distinction.
The coda here states that Salim Kerdougli has started four court cases against potential employers who presumably let interviewers ask some version of that question.
